🎂 10 Years of jRustonApps
August 21, 2022
Today marks the 10th anniversary of jRustonApps, a company which began with the release of My Currency Converter on August 21, 2012. Over the years, many milestones have been reached for the company. Some of them are great achievements that we're proud of, some of them are too hilarious to keep to ourselves. In this post, we're going to mention just a few of them.
Looking Back
2012 - Initial Release
This is how My Currency Converter looked back in August 2012. App design has certainly changed over the years!
Back on December 31, 2012 we posted a tweet celebrating the app's 1,500th user.
My Currency Converter has just hit 1,500 users! Thanks guys!

2013 - Early App Review
When jRustonApps was getting started, we reached out to many press outlets to find out if they'd be interested in checking out the apps. Most of them ignored it, but one small blog did decide to check out My Tide Times. This was one of the first reviews for jRustonApps which was outside the App Store, and we're still proud of it.
2015 - Apple Feature
2015 was the year where Apple first promoted one of our apps. In this case, during hurricane season, Apple decided to promote My Hurricane Tracker Pro prominently in the App Store. This led to huge growth in the app, as well as the company in general. We are very grateful to have a good relationship with both Apple and Google, and they have both featured our apps many times in the years since.
2019 - Google Play Video
I, and jRustonApps, were once featured in a Google Play video filmed about how you can make a difference with Android development.2020 - Gordon Ramsay
In 2020 a TV production agency reached out to request permission to use My Aurora Forecast in one of their upcoming shows. This turned out to be a Christmas special TV show on British television where famous chefs Gordon Ramsay, Gino D'Acampo and Fred Sirieix went to Finland. Part of the show was hunting for the northern lights. The TV show didn't end up showing the name of the app, but we have this beautifully hilarious clip of Gordon Ramsay saying 'That app is not working' which we can only assume is related to My Aurora Forecast! This turned out to be dramatized for comedic effect, the weather conditions were just not suitable at all for aurora at the time. However, the clip was far too funny a moment in the company not to share! The present & beyond
Since 2012, the company has grown to 11 different apps covering a variety of devices from phones to tablets to smartwatches and even Apple TV! On August 16 this year, for the first day since the launch of the company, one million of you used one of the jRustonApps apps in a single day. The total user base is now measured in the many tens of millions of people. To all of the people who downloaded one of our apps 10 years ago and all of the users who have joined us along the way, we are very grateful for your support. We will continue improving the apps to make them as useful to you as possible.Thank you all once again!
